MacBeth 1005-1057
MacBeth was King of Scotland from
1040-1057. He was the first Scottish king to make a pilgrimage to Rome
in 1050. Shakespeare’s play made him famous but the real story has
portrayed him in a better light as a fair king in a brutal age. He was
defeated by Malcolm
Cannmore at the Battle
of Lumphannan in 1057.
